Fifty-one years on, we’re still going strong.

Better late than never!

AYR WRITERS’ CLUB finally celebrated fifty successful years, at a special event on Wednesday 29th September 2021, in the Savoy Park Hotel Ayr.

With five decades of published work from our archive to peruse, plenty of cake to enjoy, and specially commissioned poetry to appreciate, it was a very special night.

Two poems had been penned by club member, Helena Sheridan, whose pieces topped and tailed the evening, beginning with “The Legacy of Ayr Writers’ Club” paying tribute to our proud traditions. The closing one, “A Write Dilemma” provoked giggles of recognition, about the stresses of being a writer.

In a generous gesture, Helena, with the illustrative assistance of club member, Maggie Bolton, had produced tea towels featuring “A Write Dilemma”, to be sold for club funds.

For those of you unable to attend, a full account of the evening is to be found on the BLOG tab.

Meanwhile, here are the two poems, and if you would like a tea towel, do get in touch by email to order one – president@ayrwritersclub.co.uk – Only £5 for an original piece of poetry.
