Our members Fiona Atchison, Maggie Bolton, Helena Sheridan , Greta Yorke and Linda Brown were no April Fools when, on April 1st, as part of Litereight, they visited a group of senior ladies at Shortlees Community Centre in Kilmarnock to give readings and perform their work.
Fiona’s humorous sketch – Supermarket Sweep – with stellar performances from all the cast, went down a treat.
Maggie read an amusing story Just a Little Break.
Greta’s story –Ties – was darker with a twist.
Helena read her funny poem Mr Right.
And lastly, Linda shared her poem, written especially for the event, the nostalgic Kilmarnock, When I Wis a Wean.
A grand afternoon – well done!
On 2nd April, Marion Husband took her children’s picture book – Is This the Way to Brodie Castle? – on the road to a special launch event at, where else but, beautiful Brodie Castle.
She enjoyed a tour of Morayshire promoting her book.
Marion ran two children’s workshops in the Brodie Castle’s stable.
After her reading from her book, the children birled and twirled around the room , taking part in ceilidh dancing, as they joined Brodie on his journey, then made their own crowns to become King and Queen of the Castle.
Sounds like hard work, but great fun. Well done, Marion.
