There wasn’t a red carpet or paparazzi present as guests arrived at the Carlton Hotel in Prestwick, but it was no less a glamorous and sparkling event. Ayr Writers’ Club members threw away their pens and notepads for the evening and gathered together for their very own Oscar ceremony. Thank goodness Carrie remembered to bring the gavel along as the chat grew in a wave of anticipation. Three short raps on the table brought everyone to order and the evening’s events began.
Following a very hearty meal, Linda, Carrie, and Maggie announced the prize winners with Ken on hand to take quick photos in his best David Bailey style. The raffle was great fun 
with almost everyone winning something!
Speeches and the induction of the new president followed with thanks given to everyone for putting together not only a wonderful evening but a hugely successful year of activities for the club.
Thanks once more to Linda and Carrie who have ‘zoomed’ through the past two years, keeping the club on track and flourishing. 
As Linda mentioned, being a member of the club doesn’t only help us to improve our writing but also brings the opportunity to meet a group of wonderful people.
I hope Linda has recovered from her cheese mountain!
