Screening of ROAD DANCE – February 16th, 2023
AYR FILM SOCIETY has brought an interesting opportunity to AYR WRITERS.
They approached us with the idea of a member providing the role of MC for a Q&A with broadcaster and writer John Mackay, at a screening of the film based on his 2004 book, The Road Dance.
Set on the Isle of Lewis, in the run-up to the first World War, the narrative centres on Kirsty Macleod, a spirited young woman with a tentative attachment to Murdo who is called up along with his pals. The community elects to have a “road dance” before hostilities commence.
AYR WRITERS’ member, Carolyn O’Hara, agreed to be up for the challenge.
This event is happening at Ayr Town Hall on Thursday 16th February, and John MacKay will be travelling to Ayr, fresh from reading the STV News. There will be a special Q&A section from 7.15pm, with the screening of the film ‘Road Dance’ commencing at 8.00pm.
