Explore Troon – May/June Issue 049
The latest issue of Ayrshire Magazine yet again features members of AYR WRITERS.
Linda Brown makes two appearances in this issue, firstly on page 74 with Johnston Art Revisited, a piece in which she reports on a visit to the Mauchline studio and art gallery of artist Elaine Johnston, finding out about her background and inspirations.
Secondly, If You go Down to Big Wood takes the reader on a walk exploring the Big Wood, which borders the Loudoun Estate near Newmilns, and is known as The Bluebell Planting. (p128) As ever, Linda’s descriptive powers are at their best describing the plants and wildlife.
Next, Sheila Grant provides an entertaining piece entitled Hi Ho Sylvie on page 144, in which we are introduced to her new campervan, and all that entails getting to know ‘her’.
Last, but not least, Suzy Kelly provides readers with the evolution of Royal Dundonald Castle in Beyond Donald’s Din, on page 26. The castle, now 652 years old, has a fascinating history, and is still of continuing importance to the community in the 21st century.
