Celebrating February’s Successes

February opened with member, Linda Brown making a return visit to Galston Women’s group, where she delivered a slideshow presentation and talk called Snap Happy – Walks Exploring Nature.  Her blend of images and narrative was enjoyed by an audience of around forty women.

Two of our members had articles published in Writers’ Narrative, an e-Magazine published on Substack for the writing community.

Susan McVey’s informative article – The Feelings Behind Facts – explores how research can shape characters and sharpen conflict.

Linda Brown’s article – Using Family History in Writinglooks at how genealogy can inspire imaginative plots and memorable characters.

Meanwhile, Helena Sheridan’s poem The Charity Shop  featured in the March 2026 issue of Writing Magazine. Workshopped by Writing Magazine’s Alison Chisholm, Helena’s observational list poem received glowing comments.  Well done, Helena.

Marion Husband has been busy and on the road again, this time entertaining Kirkmichael Guild with her talk on the subject – How I became an author by joining a writing club.  Marion reports that a good time was had by all.

Rounding off the shortest month of the year, Jacqueline Heron Wray celebrated the publication of her historical novel Crosshouse at War.  Set in a small Ayrshire community weathering two world wars, the book carries the tagline – Love, Loss and Loyalty in a Village at War.  Congratulations, Jacqueline.  Crosshouse at War is available to purchase in three formats (Kindle, paperback, hardback) on Amazon  – link for paperback here – CROSSHOUSE AT WAR: Love, Loss And Loyalty In A Village At War: Amazon.co.uk: Heron Wray, Jacqueline: 9781999361082: Books

Jacqueline is generously donating all proceeds made from the sale of her novel to Erskine Veterans Charity.  Wishing her every success and many sales!

So that’s February’s round up – another successful month for our talented writers. Keep writing, and looking forward to reading about March’s achievements already.
