I like to think I’m reasonably computer literate – after all, I work on a computer most days – but every time she has a workshop, Debbie still manages to show me ways I can make even better use of my time.
At her latest workshop, she began by talking about iPads. Do you know how many iPads are left on planes every day? So how can they identify the owners? Now, I don’t have an iPad – but I want one and when I buy one, I’ll use Debbie’s tip to make it less likely to get lost. I carefully scribbled down all Debbie’s excellent advice.
She moved on to give us various hints and tips, including the best ways to use the ruler in Word. I knew it was there but had no idea how useful it could be. Again, I scribbled furiously.
Next, she looked at tables of contents and how to create a bibliography – very useful for writers. (And most upsetting to those who had already tried to create one manually!)
There were lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘I didn’t know you could do this’ and ‘why didn’t I think of that’.
The evening flew past and questions were still being fired at Debbie until the last possible minute. Another excellent evening at Ayr Writers’ Club.
