COVID-19 Guidance – Updated November 2021

  • by

In partnership with the Mercure Ayr Hotel, Ayr Writers’ Club offers the following Covid-19 guidance procedures that are in place at our weekly meetings –

CONTACT DETAILS – The hotel requires the contact details of everyone who attends the meeting. These will be noted at our Club Welcome Desk – you will only need to provide them once.

FACE COVERINGS – Everyone, on entry to the hotel and in public areas, must wear a face covering at all times (unless you are exempt). Within the club room, when seated, you are free to remove them. If you would feel more comfortable wearing a face covering throughout the evening, please do.

SOCIAL DISTANCING – There is no requirement to socially distance anywhere within the hotel. Our room holds a maximum of 50 people. We will be careful to position the club room chairs a little more spaced out than usual. Please feel free to sit where you like.

VENTILATION – We will look to maximise the ventilation within the room.

BREAK REFRESHMENTS – For the time being we have chosen to not offer the Mercure’s refreshments. Please feel free to bring your choice of drink and snack to enjoy in the 15-minute 8.30pm comfort break.

VACCINE PASSPORTS / LATERAL FLOW TESTS – A Vaccine Passport, a negative lateral flow test, is not required for entry to the hotel. The Scottish Government has made Covid-19 lateral flow tests freely available in Scotland. They recommend everyone uses a flow test twice each week, so the virus can be better detected – even in those that show no symptoms. We encourage all members to use regular lateral flow tests.
