Highlight Talks
Friends of Robert Burns Birthplace Museum continue the regular, free, Highlight Talks.
The next one will be held on Wednesday 8th March 2023, in the Robertson Room.
This week’s speaker, Dr Pauline MacKay, Associate Director of the Centre for Robert Burns Studies, will present Creating Burns Beyond Reality, reflecting on the process that led to bringing Burns into the virtual, the questions that have arisen along the way, and the aspirations for using immersive teaching in the future.
Burns Beyond Reality allows the user to travel back in time, as well as into the imagery of Robert Burn’s famous poem Tam o’ Shanter.
While there, the user can handle virtually curated artefacts relating to Robert Burns’ material culture and examine them within the context of the poem.
The talks start at 2.30pm and finish at 3.30pm.
Places can be booked in advance on Eventbrite (see the link below) or by contacting the Museum on 01292 433700. Any unreserved seats on the day will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
