Colin Bancroft, a widely-published poet living in the North Pennines and with a strong Twitter following, reached out for help to the Twitter writing community recently – he wanted to compile an up-to-date directory of poetry journals, magazines, websites – places where poets could submit their work for publication.
Suggestions flooded in. The resulting directory, listed on his personal website, lists over 90 links to the best in poetry publications. The descriptions of the types of poetry they publish, their blurbs, allow poets to match their pieces-for-submission to the most fitting outlet.
Colin says of his directory, “This page is designed to be a signpost for poets looking to place their work, read new and exciting poetry, network and find out information. The aim of this list is to offer a comprehensive guide to the poetry magazines, journals and websites that are out there.”
Of course, many of the magazines and journals listed publish not only poetry, but flash fiction, short stories, and articles. And are often seeking a range of submissions.
